Resistors are the physical manifestation of the electrical phenomena known as resistance. Resistor values are designated in ohms; resistor sizes are designated in watts; and resistor types are designated by function. Resistors are classified as passive devices. Resistors are generally used to impede the flow of current. They are used in voltage dividers, transistor biasing circuits, and to create voltage reference points.
